Gale Joan Pitzer List, 72, went home to be with her Lord after a 2yr fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She lived her life the way she wanted up until the very end. She attended all the baseball, basketball, football and volleyball games she could. Her grandchildren were her everything. She passed away surrounded by her family and friends at home. She was born on April 25th, 1943. You know, the year the pennies were made of tin… Gale Graduated from Laurel High School and worked at the family business, List Refuse Service, until 1989 when the business was sold. She moved on to become a bit of a local celebrity at Giant Eagle before retiring. Yes, you remember her behind the counter. Smiling at you with those big dimples and treating everyone with kindness. If you thought she was nice to you, and even the occasional rude customer, you can only imagine how kind she was to her family. Gale was the most selfless person you could ever meet. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and wanted nothing but their happiness. She was put on this earth to be a mother, grandma (Mema), sister (Sissy), aunt (Aunt Sis) and friend - she was amazing at all those roles. She never yelled. Never. She was amazingly supportive. She never made you feel insecure or inadequate. She built up others around her. Many of her children's friends called her "mom". If she knew you-you were welcome in her home. If she didn't know you-she would welcome you in so she could get to know you. Gale was predeceased by her mother (Jane Davison Pitzer) and father (Gayle Pitzer), her sister Carol Pitzer King. She is survived by her sons, Kirk (Cassie) List and Craig (Heather) List and her grandchildren Corrissa, Kohen and Cooper. Her friends were equally her family. Everyone who knew her wished they could be a little more like her. She will be missed dearly. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road. Funeral service for Gale will be held at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Be kind. Be honest. Be grateful.
