Garnett P. Kimmel, 81, of Volant, PA, passed away the evening of May 25, 2011 at Heritage Valley Health Systems in Beaver, PA.Born March 9, 1930, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Evelyn Mayberry Patterson. She married A. Dickson Kimmel on July 17, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1999. Garnett graduated from New Castle High School in 1947. She was a homemaker. Garnett enjoyed crossword puzzles and ceramics. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in New Castle for over 50 years. She was a member of their 3M Sunday School Class.She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Egetoe and son-in-law Tibor, Jr., of Volant; two sons, Randy Kimmel and daughter-in-law Susan and Lindsey Kimmel and daughter-in-law Florita, all of New Castle; a brother, William Patterson, of Johnstown, PA; and five grandchildren, Blake Kimmel, Spencer Kimmel, Taylor Kimmel, Kelsey Jackson, and Amanda Whittaker.In addition to her parents and husband, Dick, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty; three brothers, Fred, Eugene, and Thomas Patterson, and an infant daughter.Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, may 28, 2011, at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made in Garnett's honor to First Baptist Church, 984 W.
