Gary E. Borger, age 79, of New Castle, passed away the early morning of Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver.

Born December 3, 1943, in New Castle, he was the son of Milton "Ed" Borger and Ruth M. (Park) Borger.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Eldora (Pander) Borger, whom he married August 31, 1968.

A graduate of Shenango High School, Gary enlisting in the US Air Force where he served with the military police. Upon returning from the service, he attended Youngstown State University.

He was employed with Penn Power as manager of the storeroom until his retirement after 31 years.

Among his varied interests, he was a licensed pilot and enjoyed cutting firewood which he gave away to those who needed it. He attended First United Brethren Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Donald M. (Nancy) Borger of New Castle; two sisters, Karen Meyers of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Susan (Ralph) Polding of New Castle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Nathaniel E. Borger and a brother-in-law, Ron Meyers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 2:00 with Pastor Marc Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
