Gary L. Kalajainen, 81 of Shenango Township, passed away the evening of October 8, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. Born February 22, 1939 in New Castle, he was a son of Carl Michael Kalajainen and Hazel Marie (McCartney) Kalajainen. He was preceded in death on February 26, 2015 by his wife of 51 years, Connie J. (Golla) Kalajainen whom he married July 22, 1963. Gary served his country in both the US Army and Air Force for over 20 years. He was a truck driver with Yourga Trucking until his retirement. A member of the VFW Club, he was also an avid fisherman. He was skilled in autobody repair and mechanics. He is survived by his only daughter, Kimberly Kalajainen of East Lyme, Connecticut, her wife Jacqueline and their children, Cooper and Riley Kalajainen. The Kalajainen family would like to acknowledge and thank the Smith and Bruno families for their support which enabled Gary to remain at home until the last few days of his life. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Oak Park Cemetery.
