Gayle W. Betts, 64, of Ellwood City, passed away at his residence the morning of August 23, 2012.Born February 1, 1948, in New Castle, he was a son of Robert Grandville Betts and Angeline Williams Betts. He married the former Carole A. Mancini on August 31, 1968, celebrating over 43 years of marriage.He was a graduate of Temple High School in Temple, Texas and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.Gayle was employed by Penn DOT as a highway foreman.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and was an avid Steelers fan. Gayle attended First Assembly of God.In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by three sons, Rodney Betts and Stephen Betts of New Castle, Fred Betts of Butler and a granddaughter, Alicia Betts, daughter of Fred; a brother, Mark Betts of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Linda Betts of Meadville, Theresa Betts and Laura McKetrick of Charlotte, NC.He was preceded in death by his father, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Florence Mancini.Visitation will be held Sunday, August 26, 2012, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, and on Monday, August 27, 2012, from 11:00-12:00 at First Assembly of God, 2021 Pulaski Road.A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Chad Stoecker will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
