Gayle E. Mooney, 63, of 226 Spring House Lane, New Wilmington, passed away the morning of May 14, 2014 at Jameson Hospital.Born December 16, 1950 in New Castle, she was a daughter of George and Dorothy Works Crawford.Gayle is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gerald "Jerry" Mooney, Jr., whom she married December 6, 1975.She was a 1968 graduate of Laurel High School. Gayle received her LPN degree from Hannah Mullins School of Nursing. For 25 years she was an LPN until she and her husband Jerry became house parents at Friendship Community in Lititz, Pa, helping developmental disabled adults.She enjoyed reading, but most important was time she spent with her family.Gayle was a member of Calvary Independent Church, where her and her husband Jerry were co-leaders of the Youth Group, and helped with vacation Bible school.In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Allison (Robert) Bucci of Enon Valley, Courtney (Mike) Jones of Slippery Rock, and Hillary Mooney of New Castle; one son, Rev. Wayne (Jennifer) Barrett of Sparta, Ill; two sisters, Beverly (Rev. Vincent Jr.) Bellanca of Hermitage, and Jackie (Todd) Abraham of New Castle; two brothers, Timothy (Karen) Crawford of Bakersfield, Calif, and Bradley (Lori) Crawford of Germany; and eight grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents.Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 10:00-12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held Monday, May 19, 2014, at 12:00 at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Chuck Fombelle and Rev. Wayne Barrett.Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
