Obituary

Gaylord I. Kauffman, age 74, of New Wilmington, peacefully went to be with the Lord the night of April 12, 2017 surrounded by his family at Jameson Care Center. Born May 29, 1942 in New Castle, he was the son of Merle F. and Opal Lois Tindall Kauffman. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy D. Snow Kauffman. After graduating from Wilmington Area High School, he attended New Castle Business College. Prior to being the president of BOST Benefits, Gaylord was the owner of Grand Book and Bible and was an accountant for Penn Power Co. He was a member of the Christian Book Sellers Association and Treasurer of Lawrence County Sunday Schools Association. Gaylord was a member of First Baptist Church, serving on various committees and formerly serving as an Elder. A former member of First United Brethren Church, he served as chairman of the Building Committee, was the Sunday school superintendent, and was involved as a youth leader. Among his interests, he enjoyed hunting, golf and attending the many sport activities his children and grandchildren were involved in. His love for his family was evidenced by all who knew him. He will be remembered as a Godly, caring husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by his daughter, Laurie L. (Douglas) Ault of New Castle; two sons, Brian T. (Lori) Kauffman of New Castle and Bradley L. (Diana) Kauffman of Sewickley, PA; two brothers, Clarence H. Dusty (Brenda) Kauffman of Sebring, Ohio and Dennis D. (Brenda) Kauffman of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Linda Kauffman of Volant, PA; six grandchildren, Darin A. (Shayna) Ault, Tyler S. (Amy) Ault, Dustin J. (Dana) Ault, Briana L. Kauffman, Bryce T. Kauffman and Chelsea N. Kauffman; and four great-grandchildren, Coen, Ethan, Jaiken and Avera Ault. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rayford M. Kauffman. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 18, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA with the Rev. Michael F. Wells officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made payable to The GK Care Foundation, which helps individuals and families with out-of-pocket expenses associated with blood disorders and cancer.
