George R. McConahy, age 92, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Nov. 17, 2021, at his residence. Born June 13, 1929, in New Castle, he was the son of the late George M. and Dolly (Harding) McConahy. On Oct. 10, 1946, he married his beloved wife of 75 years, Florence A. (McKnight) McConahy. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2021. George was a hard worker and earned a living as a truck driver and a farmer. He loved horses and volunteering as a ringleader for his local 4H group. George attended Faith Country Chapel. Survivors include his children, George (Paula) McConahy, Jr., of Butler, PA, Pegg (Charles) Woods, of Polk, PA, David (Laura) McConahy of Volant, PA, and Timothy J. McConahy of New Castle, PA; one brother, Herb McConahy of Orville, OH; two sisters, Joan Fiscus of Orville, OH and Jean Sholler of Volant, PA; eleven grandchildren, Sherri McKnight, Beth Seelbaugh, David McConahy, Jr., Kim Ogin, Jayne Dodgson, Jennifer Jones, John McConahy, Robert McConahy, Timothy Joseph McConahy, Megan Woods and Ashlee Maggie; fifteen great-grandchildren, Gabe and Maggie McKnight, Kevin Seelbaugh, Marcus and Cody McConahy, Kate and Kelsey Ogin, Matthew and Andrew Dodgson, Cameron and Tori Jones, Leila McConahy, Isabella, Avery, and Aubrey Maggie; and three great-great-grandchildren, Aidan, Koltin and Alannah Seelbaugh. In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Peters, and Joyce Williams. Visitation will be on Sunday. Nov. 21th from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediately following visitation at 4:00 PM with John McConnell officiating.
