George V. Morrison, age 93, of Slippery Rock Twp., passed away the early morning of Sept. 4, 2021, at The Haven, in New Castle.
Born Sept. 12, 1927, in Slippery Rock Twp., he was the son of the late Frank and Isabell (Mathews) Morrison.
He was married to Betty (Hoover) Morrison, who preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 1996.
George attended Princeton Area schools. In Feb. of 1946, George enlisted in the United States Army, faithfully serving in World War II. He was a contractor, farmer and took pride that he was a grower for Betty's Sweet Corn. For several years, he was manager of Lake Arthur Estates. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. George attended Princeton Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his children, George (Tammy) Morrison, Jeff (Laurie) Morrison, Richard Morrison, Judy (Raymond) Balcom, and Cindy (Arnold) Montgomery, all of New Castle; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife Betty, George was preceded in death by two sons, David and Larry Morrison, two brothers, Frank "Sonny" Morrison and David Morrison, 2 sisters, Betty Morrison and Ruth Cogan.
Visitation will be held on Wed. Sept. 8th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow immediately after visitation at 7:00 PM with Pastor Marsha Parrish officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
