George A. Orr, age 90, of New Castle, PA, passed away the evening of Oct. 13, 2024, at his daughter's residence.
Born April 2, 1934, in Jeannette, PA, he was the son of the late William K. and Emma M. (Altman) Orr.
He was married to his beloved wife, Ruth Ann (Truver) Orr, who preceded him in death on July 28, 2012.
George attended Jeannette High School. He went on to earn an Associate Degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He was a faithful member of the United States Air Force, serving in Korea. For 33 years, George was employed by Mold-Tech, where he worked as a commercial artist.
As an active member of his community, George taught art classes at Challenges, was an Eagle Scout and adult leader for Scout Troop 762, was past president of the New Castle Playhouse and was a board member of the New Castle Historical Society. He was a member of Lodge of the Craft Westminster #433 F&AM and the Ellwood City Order of Eastern Star 212.
Survivors include two daughters, RaeAnn (Kenneth) Zwick of Ellwood City, PA, and Valerie L. Shuman of Cranberry Twp., PA; seven grandchildren and several step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by one infant brother, William Orr and an infant sister, Lois Jean Orr, and a son-in-law Daniel Shuman.
Visitation will be held on Friday Oct. 18th from 4:00 PM to 7:00PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at the funeral home, at 7:00 PM with Pastor William LaVelle officiating.
A private burial will take place at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, PA.
