George Ralph Pilner, 87, of Ellwood City, passed away the morning of March 16, 2019 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born April 8, 1931 in New Castle, he was the son of Tom and Anna Fronius Pilner.
He was preceded in death on October 20, 2003 by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie L. (Booher) Pilner, whom he married November 10, 1951.
George was employed for 44 years with Blair Strip Steel until his retirement in 1996. Among his interests, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, motorcycles and gun collecting. He attended Princeton Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by one son, George W. (Liz) Pilner of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Carrie (Brian) Solomon of Munhall, PA; a son-in-law, Harold Taylor of New Castle; one sister, Margaret Cowmeadow of New Castle; and three grandsons, Ian Matthew Pilner, Ethan Craig Taylor and Isaiah Richard Taylor.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacquelyn (Pilner) Taylor on October 19, 2014; two brothers, Martin and Thomas Pilner; and two sisters, Ann Lindner and Kay Weller.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Seth Booher of New Assembly of God church officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
