Gerald L. Harlan, 101, of Portersville, PA, died the afternoon of July 23, 2010 at his residence. Born November 9, 1908 in Princeton, PA, he was a son of William Andrew and Caroline Susanna Taylor Harlan. He married Ella E. Shelar on June 2, 1931. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2001.He was a 1926 graduate of Princeton High School.Mr. Harlan was a life long farmer and a member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards.He was the oldest living member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.He is survived by one daughter and one son-in-law, Ruth and Robert Miller of New Castle; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jo Harlan of Portersville; six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland and Merrill Harlan; two sisters, Gertrude Wilson and Olive Harlan.Visitation will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Marsha Parrish will officiate.
