Geraldine R. Bell Johnston, 86, of N. Mercer Street, New Castle, died the afternoon of October 25, 2010 in Jameson Memorial Hospital.She was born September 5, 1924 to the late Robert and Blanche Jones Alben in Portersville. Geraldine married the late Daniel F. Johnston on October 30, 1970. Daniel passed away on January 22, 1992. Geraldine graduated from Muddy Creek High School. She worked for 33 years as the head cook for the Ellwood City School District, retiring in 1992. Geraldine was a member of the First Christian Church of Ellwood City.Geraldine is survived by a daughter, Ruth Bell of New Castle; a son, Mickey Bell of Ellwood City; a sister June Hartzell of Ellwood City; three grandchildren, Daniell Barnett, Debra Bell, and Michael Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Barnett and Shelby Lee Barnett.In addition to her parents and husband, Geraldine was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Frishkorn; two brothers, Kenneth Alben and Arthur Alben; and a son, Thomas Bell.Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev.
