Geraldine (Gerry) Kaye Lebby, 86, of New Castle passed away June 20, 2018. She was born July 24, 1931, in New Castle, PA to the late Dr. Philip and Rose Ginsburg. She graduated from New Castle Senior High School and Sophie Newcomb Memorial College, the womens college of Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
She is survived by her husband Marvin Lebby his 2 children Glenn (Kathy) Lebby and Miriam (Bruce Currie) Lebby, her sitter Yetta (Paul) Gluck, her children Wendy Kaye (Richard Ehrenberg), Shelah Brightsen, Mark (Shelby) Kaye, and Abbe Kaye, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Kaye.
Trained as a social worker, she worked for the Family Health Council of Western Pennsylvania for more than 20 years. Throughout her life she was an active member of the community. She served on the Lawrence County Board of Child Welfare, President of the National Council of Jewish Women, President of Temple Israel and Temple Hadar Israel Sisterhoods, and currently on the board of the Salvation Army.
Gerry will be remembered for her kindness and wit. She was a strong advocate for animal and womens rights. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Gerrys name to the Salvation Army, Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, or Planned Parenthood.
The family will receive family and friends from 11 am to 12 pm Sunday June 24th followed by a service at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. The burial will be at the Temple Israel Memorial Park.
