George W. Lusk, Jr., 88, of Mercer Rd., New Castle, passed away on Saturday, May 14th, 2011, at his residence.Born June 2, 1922 in New Castle, he was the son of the late George W. Sr. and Ada Blanche Springer Lusk. George married Elsie J. Proctor on July 26th, 1941. She preceded him in death on July 18th, 1992.George graduated from New Castle High School and Youngstown State University. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during WW II and served in the Air Force Reserve before retiring as a Major. He was a life member of the Reserve Officers Association.George was a PA Licensed Public Accountant/Auditor and Senior Partner of George W. Lusk, Jr. and Associates. He also worked for the former Shenango Pottery of New Castle and was a flight instructor at the New Castle Airport.George served on the PA Board of Accountancy, was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was also a member of Epworth Methodist Church, a life member of the New Castle Mahoning Lodge #243 F&AM, a life member of the AASR Consistory, Legion of Honor and the Lawrence Caravan Shriners of North America. George also received the Grand Cross of Color from the PA Order of the Rainbow for Girls and served as advisory board member to New Castle Assembly #1.Survivors include five daughters, Carol J. and Roy Jones, Cheryl A. and Gene Currie, Mary A. Kirkwood, Georgia D. Lusk and April A. and Michael Monstwil all of New Castle; two sons, William F. and Thressa Lusk of Canfield, Oh. and Robert D. and Meda Lusk of Dunedin FL; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers Harold and Floyd W. Lusk and one sister Mildred J. Lusk.Visitation will be Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Rd. New Castle. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Castleview Memorial Gardens. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military rites.
