Gladys June Kassi, age 95, formerly of Grandview Ave., passed away the morning of Nov. 21, 2019 at Jameson Care Center. Born Sept. 1, 1924 in New Castle, Pa., she was the daughter to the late John & Mary (Birt) Wyrie. On August 19, 1941, she married her beloved husband, Paul N. Kassi who preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2000. Gladys was a homemaker but, spent time working in the cafeteria of the Union Area School District and Westagate Bakery and an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan. She enjoyed knitting and reading. She was the longest member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she was a former treasurer of the United Methodist Women. She is survived by three sons, Paul W. Kassi and his fiancée Jean of New Castle, PA, Robert E. (Carole) Kassi of Estero, FL, John M. (Karen) Kassi of Franklin, PA, 6 grandchildren, Robert E. Kassi III, James P. Kassi, Clinton (Amy) Kassi, Kenton (Kimberly) Kassi, Lucas (Devin) Kassi, Bonnie (Mark) Maxie, two very special granddaughters-in-law, Michelle & Crystal, 8 great -grandchildren, Austin (Brittany), Christian, Brett, Keira, Leighton, Claire, Kyle, Maddie, one great-great-granddaughter, Chloe and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and Husband Paul, Gladys is preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Hamilton and one brother Glenn Wyrie. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24th from 2:00 - 5:00 PM and Mon. Nov. 25th from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. William LaVelle officiating. Burial will be at Castle View Memorial Gardens, alongside her husband.
