Glenn E. Hepler, 103, of New Bedford, PA, passed away after a short illness the morning of September 18, 2020 at his residence. Born December 16, 1916 in Dry Ridge, Armstrong County, PA, he was a son of Webster J.C. Hepler and Lola (Shaffer) Hepler. He was preceded in death on February 13, 2011 by his beloved wife of 70 years, Verda B. (Kesslar) Hepler, whom he married November 16, 1940. Mr. Hepler served his country in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a Tech 4 Sergeant with the 260th Ordnance as a welder. Glenn was employed with Aeroquip/Republic Rubber Company in Ohio as a certified/licensed welder, retiring after 40 years. Together with his wife Verda, they built their home in New Bedford. Glenn was skilled at fixing anything in need of repair. He enjoyed reading but most important was time with his family. He was a charter member of Calvary Assembly of God in Boardman, Ohio. He was a member of New Bedford Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He is survived by two daughters, Elaine A. Hepler and Sharon J. (John) Book, all of New Bedford; one brother, Donald L. Hepler, Sr. of Volant; and two grandsons, Nathan J. Book and Philip J. Book. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Harold Hepler and three sisters, Mildred Brocious, Martha Neal and Betty Fagan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the New Bedford EPC, 151 Woodland Drive, New Bedford, PA. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation on Tuesday at 11:30 at the church with the Rev. Doug Runyan, Pastor Bill Beck and Lee Harris officiating. Full military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Visitors are asked to wear face masks and practice social distancing. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Castle View Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
