Glenn D. Hoover, 79, of 34 Cochran Drive, passed away the morning of February 27, 2010 in Jameson Hospital.Born June 2, 1930 in Edinburg, PA, he was the son of Charles E. and Clare B. Morrison Hoover. He married Peggy Hanna Hoover May 17, 1958. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2009.He was a 1948 graduate of Union High School. He went on to serve his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict as a Petty Officer First Class. He then enlisted in the Marine Corp Reserves.Mr. Hoover was employed as a Field Manager with IBM for thirty two years until his retirement in 1984.He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the VFW Post 6233. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law; Amy J. and Lance Barret of Farmington, Conn. and Malinda L. and Jeffrey Weyrick of Venetia, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark W. and Karen Hoover of Venetia, PA; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Wilma Hoover of Edinburg; one sister, Alice Constatine of Vacaville, CA; and seven grandchildren, Megan, Eric and Kelly Barret, Hannah and Dan Weyrick, Lindsey and Jacob Hoover.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Hoover.Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate.
