Glenn C. Klingensmith, 85, of New Castle passed away the morning of July 30, 2017 at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Born in New Castle on February 5, 1932, he was a son of Harold R. and Florence M. Gibb Klingensmith.
On February 14, 1959 he married the former Yvonne "Bonnie" Czartorski. She survives him at home.
After graduating from Shenango High School, he served in the US Army. He retired in November 1990 from the US Postal Service where he was employed as a mail carrier for 33 years.
He loved cars and was a member of Rapid Tappets Car Club and National WPC (Walter P. Chrysler) Club. He also enjoyed gardening and outside yard work. Glenn participated in Relay for Life; volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 13 years and for Habitat for Humanity for 20 years; and also worked on the renovations for the McGill Learning Center.
He was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church where he was involved with the Tri M Class.
Besides his wife of 58 years, survivors include one daughter, Lori (Steve) Uhing of Aliquippa, PA; one brother, Joseph Klingensmith of Alford, FL; one sister, Sara Brest of New Castle; one grandchild, Jordan Uhing; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, William D. Klingensmith; and one half sister, Nettie Mae Master.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 on Tuesday and from 10:00-11:00 on Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. David Watson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
