Glenn A. Wolford, 82, of New Castle, passed into the presence of his Lord the morning of May 23, 2014 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, PA.Born February 5, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio, he was a son of Carlyle O. and Edna A. Holtzman Wolford.Surviving at home is his loving wife of 61 years, Martha I. Van Meter Wolford, whom he married June 20, 1952.Glenn was a 1950 graduate of North High School in Youngstown, Ohio. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.He was an employee with the U.S. Can Company in Hubbard, Ohio, retiring in 1985 after 37 years of service.Glenn enjoyed raising orchids, woodworking, and most importantly, spending time with his family.A member of First Alliance Church since 1976, he served as a deacon, elder, and Sunday School superintendent.In addition to his wife Martha, he is survived by his three daughters, Mary Jane (Rev. William) Kalajainen of Landsdale, PA, Leslie (Denny) Ratvasky of Pulaski, and Sandra (Greg) Workman of New Castle; one son, Gary (Betsy) Wolford of New Castle; one sister, Olive (Grant) Scoggins of Lake Jackson, TX; five grandchildren, Kiersten Reiber, Aaron Workman, Brady Workman, Nick Wolford, and Steve Wolford; and one great-grandchild, Romney Reiber.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive, New Castle, PA 16105.A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014, immediately following visitation at 7:00 p.m. at the church and will be officiated by Rev. Philip Harrison.Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the City Rescue Mission, 319 S. Croton Avenue, New Castle, PA 16101.
