Grace R. Simpson, 88, formerly of E. Fairfield Avenue, passed away the night of April 23, 2016 at Jameson Hospital.
Born April 8, 1928 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Balint and Mary Freska Kish.
She was preceded in death on April 8, 2014 by her loving husband of 66 years, Nile J. Simpson, whom she married on October 10, 1947.
A 1946 graduate of New Castle High School, Grace was employed with the former Mellon Bank where she worked in the installment loan department until her retirement.
She was a member and past president of Wimodausis.
An active member of First Baptist Church, Grace was the financial secretary, member of the Ethel Hurst Bible Class, a Sunday school teacher, and was involved in the Beginners Department.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Lee) Martell of New Castle; two sons, N. James (Susan) Simpson of Seaford, DE, and Mark R. Simpson of New Castle; one brother, and David L. (Corrine) Kish of New Castle; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Julia Terlinden; and one brother, Val S. Kish.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
