Obituary

Grace I. Wilcox of New Castle, formerly of Hermitage, a devoted mother, wife and Christian, peacefully passed away Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2012, in the home of her daughter in Maryland, with her family by her side. She was 90.Mrs. Wilcox was born in New Castle on January 2, 1922, a daughter of Edward and Florence Moore Reynolds. Her devoted husband, Howard "Tom" Wilcox, to whom she was married 68 years, passed away on June 10, 2010.Grace was an accomplished seamstress who loved to sew and enjoyed doing handwork. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed watching sports with her sons-in-law and grandchildren.Grace and her husband Tom were two of the founding members of Faith Country Chapel in New Castle. For many years she taught Sunday School, assisted in the nursery as well as singing in the choir. Grace was actively involved in the missions program of the church. In retirement she and her husband were active volunteers at the Shenango Valley Hospital and the Gideon's of New Castle. Most recently she enjoyed the friendships and adventures with the Rosebuds of Maple Heights.She leaves her daughters Linda Long and her husband Tom of Columbus, Indiana, Judith Rice of Odenton, Maryland, Nancy Morgan and her husband Walter of Sudbury, Massachusetts and seven grandchildren; Gretchen Long Armer, Julie Long Howard and husband Ryan, Brian Rice and wife Melisa, Michael Rice, David Rice, Elizabeth Morgan and Ross Morgan. She also leaves her dear brother Edward Reynolds of Sarasota, Florida, five great-grandchildren; Taylor, Sophie, Lily, Addison and Rachael; beloved nieces and nephews, and their dearest friends of 60 years; Dave and Mary Jane George.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Alice "June" Kennedy. Her family suggests anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory to please consider the Mission and Outreach funds at Faith Country Chapel, Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County,1211 Wilmington Avenue, New Castle, Pa. 16105 or the City Rescue Mission, 319 South Croton Avenue, New Castle, Pa. 16101.Calling hours will be 4 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road. A service will be held on Friday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Country Chapel, 3818 Old Butler Road, New Castle, and will be officiated by Rev. Russell Van Nest and Rev. Stephen Miller.
