Harold L. Heaberlin Sr., age 74 of Union Township passed away on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 in UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born January 16, 1943 in Grayson Kentucky he was the son of the late Samuel and Emma Slick Heaberlin. Harold married Susan A. Hoover on June 18, 1966 and she survives at home.
Harold graduated from Union High School in 1961 and entered the United States Army where he served as an SP-4 during the Korean War. He also attended the Cleveland Institute Technical School where he earned his degree in electronics. Harold worked for Penn Power for over 30 years and served as a sub-station supervisor and systems operator, he retired in 1997.
His interests included fishing, hunting and woodworking. Harold loved his hunting dogs, raising chickens and gardening. He received a Master Gardening Certificate which he was very proud of and also taught children the art of gardening. He was a former member of the Mahoning Sportsmens Club. He was of protestant faith.
In addition to his wife Harold is survived by a daughter Jeanette (James) Robison, a son Harold L. Jr. (Rebecca) Heaberlin both of New Castle, one brother Samuel Heaberlin of New Castle and a sister along with three grandchildren James and Jonathan Robison and Kathryn Heaberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Hugh Heaberlin.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating. The New Castle Honor guard will conduct full military honors at the funeral home prior to the service.
