Harold E. Hiler, 83, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 26, 2018 at his residence.
Born July 23, 1934 in New Castle, he was the son of Earl and Gwendolyn Nelson Hiler.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sally Ann Miller Hiler, whom he married June 18, 1960.
Harold served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was employed several years with Bessemer Cement.
A former member of Paws & Taws, Harold also liked hunting, fishing and golfing. He often enjoyed attending his children and grandchildrens events. He will be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Phoebe.
Harold was a member of Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda A. and Greg Pace of Mt. Jackson; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark E. and Mary Hiler of Edinburg; and 3 grandchildren, Aaron Pace, Jennifer Hiler and Justin Hiler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Earl Buzzy, William, James and his twin brother, Harry; and 5 sisters, Harriet Sis, Dorothy, Bonnie, Jacqueline and Gwendolyn.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Plyler officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Mausoleum.
