Harold E. Kerr, 92, of N. Edinburg Road, Edinburg, PA, passed away the night of January 30, 2015 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born February 1, 1922 in Boyers, PA, he was a son of Floyd Forrest Kerr and Mary Agnes Kingsley Kerr. He was preceded in death on February 7, 1992 by his first wife, Stella Rihel Kerr, whom he married August 24, 1952. He subsequently married Isabel Book Kerr. After attending Grove City High School he entered the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1945 where he served in the Philippines, achieving the rank of Corporal. Harold was employed with American Cyanamid and later with Ohio Edison where he retired in 1987. He was a member of the Mahoning Valley Grange and the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Harold enjoyed writing as evidenced by his numerous poems and his 2009 published book titled "What Cha Doing Harold". He was a member of Edinburg United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons and their wives, David and Margaret Kerr and Linden and Darla Kerr, all of Edinburg; a granddaughter, Laura Kerr; a great grandson, Kayden Kerr; a step-granddaughter Allison (Michael) Caparoula; and a step-grandson, Aaron Boalick; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Daryl L. Kerr; three sisters, Pearl Kerr, Doris Nelson, and an infant sister, Delores Kerr; and one brother, Cecil Kerr. His family would like to thank Apryl and Anna for their compassionate care for Harold. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00-12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Tuesday at 12:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Weichman officiating. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville, PA.
