Harriett A. McCormick, age 73 of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of July 20, 2019 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born August 29, 1945 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Lois (Smith) Boak. She married her beloved husband, Dale McCormick, on October 16, 1965. He survives at home. Mrs. McCormick was a graduate of Laurel High School and the New Castle Beauty School. She was employed by Allegheny Valley School as a caregiver until her retirement in 2006. She enjoyed feeding her birds, gardening and attending to her flower gardens. What gave Harriett the most joy in life were her loving family; her children, grandchildren and the loves of her life, her great-grandchildren. Along with her husband Dale, Harriett is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Paul) Ritchie of New Castle; one brother, Joseph (Carol) Boak of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Lynn Boak of New Castle; six grandchildren, Megan (Tyler) Webster, Michaelyn Ritchie (Michael Grist), Dylan Ritchie, Morgan Ritchie, Robert McCormick, Jamie McCormick; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Reagan Webster and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, preceding her in death are one brother, Richard Boak and one son, James McCormick. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Marsha Parrish officiating.
