Harry E. Baxter, 90, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 6, 2012 at Jameson Hospital.He was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania on January 8, 1922 to Harry and Aletha Linderman Baxter. He was married to the former Marjorie Kelly for 64 years. They married on October 21, 1947. She survives. He attended New Castle High School until leaving to attend pilot school. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during World War II where he was with the 15th Air Division. He also attended Finn College.His hobbies included golf and coaching Little League and Pony League baseball. He was the owner of Ed Baxter Heating and Roofing.In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by his daughter; Mary Ann Medved of New Castle; three sons and two daughters-in-law; James P. and Carol O. Baxter of Cary, North Carolina, Harry E. "Buff" and Mary A. "Sis" Baxter of New Castle and Thomas L. Baxter, also of New Castle. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, William Dale Baxter, four brothers; David, Richard, Fred and Danny Baxter and one son-in-law; Andrew H. Medved.Calling hours will be held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Wilmington Road on Wednesday, February 8, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m.Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by the Reverend Andrew Jillson of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
