Harry O. Wertz, Jr. 73, of 20 Buena Vista Way, passed away the night of January 12, 2012 at Sharon Regional Health System.Born November 13, 1938 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Harry O. and Marguerite Wurzbacher Wertz. He married Joan Pemberton on June 22, 1963. She survives.Harry was a graduate of Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh and then attended Point Park College and the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 - 1959.Harry was a sales representative for the Coca-Cola Company where he received the Number 1 Sales Representative of the Year Award in 1978, 1979 and 1980.He was the former owner of the North Jackson, Ohio NAPA Auto Parts Store and later worked in sales with the NAPA store in New Wilmington. He retired in 1998. Harry was a member of several organizations including the Eintracht Singing Society and Eintracht Maennerchor, serving as past president and treasurer; the Youngstown Maennerchor Club where he was president and secretary of the mixed golf league; the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 45; the New Castle Scottish Rite Cathedral 32nd Degree Masons; the New Castle Jaycee's; and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed golf and was an avid Steelers fan.Harry was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the church choir.In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Lynda Wertz of Cherry Hill, NJ; and one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and John Mays of Hereford, Maryland.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate.
