Hazel Elaine Moffett Earl, 75 of New Castle, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Lawrence County Geri Care.Elaine was born on June 5, 1934, to Hazel Grubbs and Rhymer Moffett. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1951 and married Thomas Roger Earl in 1953. Elaine was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. For many years prior to her own illness, she was an in-home caregiver for ill and terminal patients.Survivors include one daughter; Cindy Michaels, of North Carolina; two sons, Mark and Brett, both of New Castle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, Brian Earl; one son, Barry Earl; one brother, Gary Moffett; and three sisters, Barbara Bistyga of New Castle, Donna Clooney of New York and Glenda Mentzer of Texas.In keeping with Elaine's wishes, there will be no calling hours.Following cremation, a brief memorial service was held at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle. The Rev. Frederick Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church officiated.A private burial was held at Graceland Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
