Helen M. Eakin, 84, of the Haven Convalescent Home, formerly of W. Washington Street, passed away the evening of July 19, 2011 in the Haven.Born June 5, 1927 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Walter and Della Siddall. She was married to Richard Eakin who preceded her in death.She was employed as a food server in the cafeteria of Neshannock High School for thirty years, retiring in 1990.Helen enjoyed line dancing, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.She was a member of First Assembly of God where she enjoyed taking care of the nursery on Sunday mornings.She is survived by two sons, Lester H. Altman, Jr. of New Castle and Dennis J. Altman of Harlansburg; three brothers, Gerald Siddall and Edward Siddall of New Castle and Marvin Siddall of Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Locke of Brandon, FL and Junie Peterson of Tennessee; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Siddall and two sisters, Dorothy Murray and Kathy Alley.Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road and Friday, July 22, 2011, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 2021 Pulaski Road.A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God. The Rev. Chad Stoecker and The Rev. Kenneth Meyer will officiate.
