Helen Louise Middendorf peacefully went to be with her Lord on February 1, 2019 after a beautiful life of service. She was born in Franklin, PA on September 23, 1920 to Leonard and Ruth Seaton Hovis. Helen Louise grew up in Boyers, PA graduating from Grove City High School in 1937 and Grove City College in 1941 with a degree in secondary English Education. She began her teaching career in Venango and Butler Counties. She taught English for 23 years at Neshannock High School and set the bar high for her students; many of whom thanked her in later years.
Helen Louise married Floyd E. Middendorf on June 11, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1994. They had two children David (Jennifer) Middendorf who survives and Carole Jean Brooks (Ralph) who preceded her in death on July 26, 2016 after a three year battle with cancer. The family shared many fond camping memories together. And she so enjoyed visits from her niece, Ruthie (Lynn) Augenstene of Jacksonville, FL.
Six grandchildren complete her family circle that brought great joy to Helen Louise. David (Lori) Middendorf, Stacey (Cliff) Lessnau, Melissa (Steve) LaPlace, and Ashley Middendorf (Ty) Talley, Heather (Mike) Keller, and Adam (Brenda) Brooks. She loved being visited by her nine great-grandchildren that complete the family circle.
Helen Louise's faith was her top priority in life and she truly was one of God's angles on earth. She actively belonged to First Baptist Church where for many years she led the Sparklers organizing activates and the 3M Sunday School class. She was the catalyst for bringing many others to Prime Timers and Challenges Center.
Helen Louise always found ways to be a disciple for Christ. In later years when she could not get out, she was a great phone companion for many others. Helen Louise was a great encourager for when visiting her, she was the one who uplifted you! She met life's challenges with joy thanking her Savior for every trail and looked forward to being called home. Helen Louise Middendorf will be remember for her life well-lived.
