Obituary

On Monday, March 13, 2017 our precious mother, Helen Elizabeth Stillwagon Robinson, age 98, ceased from earthly striving and entered into the heavenly rest with Jesus, her beloved Savior and Lord. Formerly of Bon Aire Avenue, she passed peacefully at her daughter's home where she had been living for the past few years. Helen was born to Marie and James Stillwagon on August 21, 1918. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1936 and attended New Castle Business College before employment at Kalajainen's. She married James Albert Robinson on September 3, 1941 and enjoyed 70 years of marriage to him. She had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren that she loved very much. Helen was a devoted homemaker to her husband and her four children. She always made sure we had what was needed and sacrificed her own needs many times. She was a fine seamstress and made our clothes for many years. She was also an avid baker and specialized in German Chocolate cake. Helen was an active member of Northminster Church, where over the years she served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and leader for the "Young Peoples" group. She also was in the church choir for years and had a lovely alto voice. She was always happy and could be frequently heard singing until her last week. She was also an active member of Eastern Star for over 65 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many of his Masonic meetings across the US. She was preceded in death by her mother Marie Stillwagon; husband, James; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Stillwagon; brother, Robert Stillwagon, Sr.; nephews, Robert Stillwagon, Jr. and Donald Stillwagon, all of New Castle. Surviving are her son, Gene (Rose Ann Leonhardt) Robinson of New Castle; daughters, Carrol Robinson and Joan Robinson, both of New Castle and Jan (Morgan) Denson of Bethel Park, PA; grandchildren, Becky (Wayne) Hoholski of Winter Park, FL, Brian (Carrie) Robinson of Doylestown, OH, John Robinson of Akron, OH, Corey Denson of Pittsburgh, PA and Sabrina Denson of Baltimore, MD; great grandchildren, Katie and Kendra Robinson of Doylestown, OH, Brandon Hoholski of Winter Park, FL and Jennifer Alexis Robinson of Akron, OH. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105 with Rev. Andrew Jillson officiating.
