Helen I. Stoner, 86, of New Castle, passed away the night of September 17, 2011 in Allegheny General Hospital.Born December 9, 1924 in New Galilee, PA, she was a daughter of James Knox Gilkey and Mary Helen Noggle Gilkey. She married her true soulmate and love of her life, W. Clarence Stoner on June 20, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2003.She was a graduate of Bessemer High School in 1942 and went on to work at Jameson Hospital in the dietary department. Helen was a wonderful homemaker and faithfully helped her husband Clarence on their farm.She was an active member of Mt. Hermon Church since her marriage in 1945. She was a Sunday school teacher there for many years and active in many church activities. She was a fine Christian example to those who knew her.Helen enjoyed reading, baking pies and crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed as she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.She is survived by two children; Robert J. Stoner and his wife Betty and Mary Ann Mielke and her companion and friend Fred Eppinger, all of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Michael R. Stoner and his wife Kacy, Mark W. Stoner, Joe Mielke and Rob Mielke.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert K. Gilkey, Edward L. Gilkey and Donald Gilkey.Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road and on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m at the church. The Rev. Dr. John R. Loch will officiate. Burial will be in Mt.
