Helen Boyce Zurasky, of New Castle, was called home to be with the Lord, the evening of Sat. May 11, 2024.

She was born May 15, 1936, in Butler, PA, the third child of Edgar T. and Edna Ruth (Steinke) Boyce.

Helen was a 1954 graduate of Mars High School. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree and then her master's degree, in elementary education, from Slippery Rock University. For 42 ½ years, she taught first, third and fifth grades at Shenango Area School District. In her spare time, Helen was an avid reader, a member of the Castle Pistol Club, and the PASR (local/state). Helen was a charter member of Independent Methodist Church, where she served as the Board of Directors' Secretary, Mission's Chair, Church Council, Evangelism and Outreach coordinator. She also served as a greeter and the Saturday night head usher.

Survivors include two brothers, James (Olive) Boyce of Mars PA and Paul (Jane) Boyce of Federal Way, Washington; four nephews, Mark (Kim) Boyce of Butler, PA, Russell Boyce of Morgantown, WV, Jeffrey (Debbie) Boyce of Grangeville, ID; one niece Pamela (Ray) Molinaro of Valencia, PA; and lifelong friends, John and Rosemary Colella.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Wed. May 22, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Independent Methodist Church, 1921 New Butler Road, New Castle, PA 16101, with The Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the Lawrence County Humane Society, P.O. Box 62, New Castle, PA 16102.
