Herbert G. Myers, 97, of Morganton, GA, formerly of Boston Ave., New Castle, passed away the morning of September 2, 2014 at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, GA.Born July 17, 1917, in New Castle, he was the son of Howard and Anna Hobel Myers.Herbert married Virginia McConahy Myers on August 12, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 27, 1977.A 1934 graduate of New Castle High School, he was the store manager at Troutman's, retiring after 40 years.Herbert was a member of First Presbyterian Church in New Castle.He is survived by his daughter, Barbara and Jim Gray of Morganton, GA; four grandchildren, Greg Piser, Ormond of Beach, FL, Karen Powers, of Dallas, GA, Mike Myers of Cleveland, GA, and Danny Myers of Edgewater, FL; six great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildrenIn addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Herbert J. Myers; and three sisters, Annabelle Hartzell, Carrie Hartzell, and Rebecca Marsh; and his longtime companion, Leona Logan.Visitation will be Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at noon on Saturday, September 6, 2014.. The Rev. Nathan Loudon will officiate.Burial will be at Clinton Cemetery in Wampum.
