Obituary

Hilles Louis Miles, age 74, of Edinburg, PA, passed away the morning of January 3, 2025, at his home.

Hilles was born October 11, 1950, in New Castle and was employed as a train car repairman for 28 years with Norfolk Southern Railway until his retirement in 2003.

Mr. Miles served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970 where he received the Purple Heart Medal and was recognized as a Prisoner of War. He also served in the Army National Guard for 17 years. He continued throughout his lifetime to be involved with the VFW and Purple Hearts Military. He also served on the Honor Guard of the American Legion in Wheatland and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post #6233 in West Middlesex.

He was a member of the Living Faith Christian Church in Farrell, PA.

Surviving at home is his wife, Lena (Alberico) Caravella Miles, whom he married Dec. 17, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 3-5 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A service will take place immediately following the visitation at 5:00 with Pastor Gary Reiner officiating.

Military honors will be performed by the Wheatland American Legion Honor Guard.

Burial for Mr. Miles will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
