Homer Melvin Johnson, age 82, of New Castle, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016. Mr. Johnson was born November 3, 1933 in New Castle to the late Baxter French and Elsie Grace Weaver Johnson. He was a much loved member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson was retired from Lark Sheltered Workshop and a longtime resident of Personal Care Home. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Sidney and Benjamin French Johnson, and sister, Mary Ann Johnson Martin. He is survived by a brother, Clyde Herbert Johnson and wife Margaret, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nieces, Nancy Beduhn of Luke, WI, Mary Lee "Mimi" Funovits of Tampa, FL, Shelly Legh-Page of Lake Zurich, IL, Brenda Lawter of Springfield, VA, Karen Wright of Jacksonville, FL, Shari Johnson and Lori Booth of Mechanicsville, VA; and nephews, William Johnson of Powell, TN and Christopher Johnson of Henrico, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Personal Care Home and Lark for their loving care of Homer these many years.
