Howard Ray Dierfield, Jr., 78, of New Castle passed away the morning of Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Sharon Regional Health System. Born in New Castle on July 17, 1938, he was a son of Howard R. Dierfield, Sr. and Katherine Tropea Dierfield. Howard is survived by his fiance, Suzanne Lenn. Before his retirement in 2000, Mr. Dierfield was employed at the Crane Co/Pentex as an oven operator for twenty-three years. He served in the US Marines from 1955-1958. Survivors include a son and his fiance, Kenny Dierfield, Sr. and Kim Mindek of New Castle; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Louann Dierfield of New Castle; a brother, LeRoy Dierfield of New Castle; two sisters, Wanetta Eppinger of New Bedford and Dolly Brown of Goldsboro, NC; and three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents. Visitation will be from 6-8 on Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A blessing service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Father Frank Almade officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform a military service.
