Howard F. Sheffler, 67, of Hazelcroft Ave., New Castle passed away the morning of June 28, 2012 at his home.Born Oct. 20, 1944, in New Castle, he was the son of Fred E. and Madaline D. Shriver Sheffler.Howard married Susan Bowlin Sheffler on Sept. 23, 1967.He graduated from Laurel High School in 1962 and then attended Youngstown State University.Howard served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany, serving in military intelligence.He was the owner of Sheffler Speed and Sport in New Castle and was also the owner and operator of a trucking company.Howard enjoyed racing cars and building engines. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #433.In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynn and Peter Platteborze of San Antonio, Texas, and Debbie Sheffler Long of Fairborn, Ohio; and a brother, Fred Sheffler of Princeton, PA.Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at the funeral home. The Rev.
