Howard M. Snyder, 93, formerly of Grenway Road, New Castle, passed away the night of October 16, 2015 at Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care, New Wilmington.
Born June 2, 1922 in West Monterey, Pennsylvania, he was the son of J. Roy and Lena Martin Snyder. He was preceded in death on May 8, 2010 by his wife, Helen Singer Snyder.
Howard graduated from Penn-State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He also served in the U. S. Army as an Air Corp Cadet during WWII.
He was the owner of New Castle Duntile /Castle Builders Supply until 1992, when he sold the business.
Howard enjoyed boating and woodworking. He was a member of the Paws and Taws, Rotary, Elks Club, and was an Eagles Scout.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Castle, where he served as a deacon and elder.
He is survived by two sons, Gary (Jeanne) Snyder of Iowa City, Iowa, and Blair (Patricia) Snyder of Scottsdale, Arizona; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Glenn Snyder.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Loudon officiating .
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
