Obituary

Imogene "Jean" LaRue Jolley, age 98 of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of July 2, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Care Center. Born Aug. 29, 1921 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late James Wilber and Bessie LaRue (Henninger) King. On March 26, 1941 she married her beloved husband of 57 years, Walter Jolley. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1998. Jean was a graduate of New Castle High School. She was an assistant librarian for the New Castle Public Library for 26 years. Jean enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. A member of First United Methodist Church she was very involved with many church functions. Jean is survived by two daughters, Carole Jean Alexander and Susan E. Golba, both of New Castle; one son, James W. (Judy) Jolley of Butler; five grandchildren, Stewart Lee, Charlotte Lee, Melissa Golba, Andrea Maschak, Graig Jolley and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her sister Grace Kelty, one daughter, Patricia Ann Lee, and one grandson, Kevin Golba. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. Burial will be at Castle View Cemetery, alongside her husband Walter. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Castle Public Library, 207 E.
