Irene K. Fava, 95, formerly of Shenango Township, passed away the night of October 25, 2018 at Quality Life Services in New Castle.
Born December 4, 1922 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Martin and Susanne (Hoprich) Wellman.
She was preceded in death on March 27, 2017 by her husband of 70 years, Joseph Fava, whom she married May 5, 1946.
For most of Irenes life she was a homemaker. In earlier years she worked at the Box Factory, the Tin Mill and Radiator Works.
Among her interests, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking and was a member of First Assembly of God.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Ronald) Lawson of Knoxville, TN and Joan (Rev. Stephen) Brimmer of Indialantic, FL; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Minnie Walczak, Clara Salsbury and Elsie Paglialong Pears; and four brothers, Martin Wellman, Rev. Ed Wellman, David Wellman and Richard Wellman.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 30, from 11:00 to 12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Brimmer officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
