Irene Tempesta, of New Castle, passed away on October 20, 2015 at the Family Hospice facility in Mt. Lebanon, PA. Irene was born, October 12, 1925 in New Castle, to the late Michael and Mary (Cangey) Lambiase. She married Eugene Anthony Tempesta on June 18, 1953, who preceded her in passing on November 24, 1966. Mrs. Tempesta worked for Shenango China, Johnson Bronze, the Youth Development Center and owned her own beauty salon. Irene was a graduate of New Castle High School and New Castle School of Beauty. She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, line dancing, walking and spending time with her two grandsons who were the light of her life. Mrs. Tempesta was a faithful member of St. Mary's Parish, a member of Challenges and The Red Hat Society.
Irene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna M. and James Mott of New Castle; her son, Eugene P. Tempesta and his daughter Freesia of Cranberry Twp.; her brother, Frank Lambiase of New Castle; her two sisters, Helen DeCarbo and Dolores Stull both of New Castle; her two grandsons, Steven and Anthony Mott and 18 nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by three brothers, Ralph, Patsy and Eugene and five sisters, Pearl, Margaret, Josephine, Viola and Virginia as well as 3 nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, PA 16105
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church. Processional will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held in St. Vitus Cemetery.
