Iva M. Shaffer Carbone, 92, of the Greer House, passed away the morning of March 18, 2012 at her residence.Born September 30, 1919 in New Castle, Pa, she was a daughter of David and Effie Pearl Wysner Bevan.She was married to Norman J. Shaffer who preceded her in death on October 25, 1988. She subsequently married John Carbone who also preceded her in death.She was a graduate of New Castle High School.Iva was previously employed at Shenango Pottery. She then worked at Slippery Rock College, the Lawrence County Housing Authority, and with the Department of Public Assistance.She enjoyed dancing, trips to Las Vegas and playing cards. She loved spending time with her family and friends.Iva was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.Survivors included a daughter, Sandra (Don) DuBon of Kettering, OH; three sons, Gary (Kathryn) Shaffer of Lowellville, OH, Thomas Shaffer (Fiance' Tami Elias) of Bessemer, and Larry (Dolores) Shaffer of West Middlesex; one brother, David (Gladys) Bevan; one sister, Ruth Saylor; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Georgia Dute; one brother, James Bevan; and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Gaiser) Shaffer.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Weichman will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
