Ivan Richard Patterson, 80, of New Castle, passed away the morning of November 4, 2011 at Jameson Hospital.Born November 17, 1930 in New Castle, he was a son of Ernest and Margaret Patterson. He married the former Grace M. Sickafuse on October 21, 1952. She preceded him in death on August 1, 1996.A Korean War vet, Mr. Patterson served on the front lines as a supply sergeant. He was retired from Wean United and the J.B. Winkle Company.He was a member of Eastbrook Presbyterian Church and the Coachman's Club of Lawrence County.Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Shirleen and Alan Zeigler of New Castle; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sharon Patterson of Volant, PA; three grandsons, Jason and Nicole Patterson, Chad Patterson and his friend Cori Redfoot, and Matthew Zeigler; two sisters, Gertrude (Frank) Zoltani and Gladys (Richard) McConnell both of New Castle.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Rose and three brothers, Samuel, Clyde and Harold Patterson.Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Wilmington Road.A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jason Schepp will officiate.
