Obituary

Robert (Bob) Vinton, 80, of New Castle passed away recently. He was born on July 14, 1937 in Grove City. He was the son of James Vinton and Martha Miles Vinton. Bob graduated from Grove City College with a BA in Education. He retired from New Castle School District in 1993, where he spent his career teaching French for 35 years. In 1973 he accompanied his French students on a trip to France. Bob delighted in working with his students and served as advisor to the Key Club, French Club and Future Teachers of America. Bob was a past member of the New Castle Jaycees. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and a former member of Highland Presbyterian Church. As a life-long Presbyterian, he served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. He enjoyed gardening, reading, watching old movies, painting, playing bridge and playing the piano. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lynda J. Vinton, a son, Geoffrey (Brenda) of Harmony, a daughter, Tara (Bob) Frank of Hummelstown, and a brother Bruce (Patty) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by four grandsons, Jeremy (Heidi) Vinton, J. Andrew (Jessica) Vinton, Joseph Frank and Samuel Frank, as well as two great-grandsons and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna J. Neely. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
