Obituary

Jack William Boggs, 89, of Union Township, New Castle, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the morning of Aug. 26, 2016. Born May 6, 1927, in Evans City, PA. He was the son of the late Addison E. and Hallie R. Goehring Boggs. He is now walking hand in hand with the love of his life, Rozella F. Shoemaker Boggs, who met Jesus face-to-face on Aug. 20, 2007. God united Jack and Rozella in Holy Matrimony on Aug. 18, 1950. Mr. Boggs was a loving Father, devoted grandfather, great grandfather, teacher & guidance counselor (Union Area School District - retired in 1988), Sunday School teacher, and Bible study teacher at New Castle City Prison. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School (1945), University of Pittsburgh and University of Maryland, and from Geneva College. He earned a Masters degree from Westminster College. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a 1st Lieut. in Germany. He had been a member of New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church and First Baptist of New Castle for many years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Education Association for four years. He was also a member of the National Education Association and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He also loved golf, bowling, hunting, and gardening. Beloved family include three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Fred Cox of Evansville, Ind., Karen and Joe Behm of Graysville, Pa., and Wendy and Brian Gorgacz of Edinburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Laurie Boggs of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Bruce and Judy Boggs of New Castle; a brother A. Erwin and Barb Boggs of Gilroy, California; and 11 grandchildren, Charles Justin Behm, Gregory Daniel Cox, Andrew Scott Behm, Kayli Nichole Boggs, Sarah Elizabeth Boggs, Rachel Ann Boggs, Hannah Lynn Boggs, Cole Ryan Gorgacz, Brian Charles Boggs, Madalyn Faith Gorgacz and Mallory Grace Gorgacz; and 3 great grandchildren: Katelyn Rose Behm, Charles Jacob Behm, and Rylan Isabelle Cox. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
