Jack P. Jones, 95, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 15, 2014 in Golden Hill Nursing Home.Born September 6, 1918 in New Castle, he was a son of John and Sarah Mansell Jones.Jack was preceded in death in 1993 by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Mae Cox Jones.Jack was employed by the New Castle News for 42 years, retiring as the Assistant Advertising Director.He was a member of the Mahoning Lodge #243 F & AM, New Castle Consistory 32nd Degree, the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Consitory Choir for the Valley of New Castle, and head usher at the Cathedral.Jack was the founder of the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the New Castle Fire Department.He was a member of First United Methodist Church.He is survived by three sons and their wives, Roy A. (Carol) Jones and Bradley L. (Arlene) Jones of New Castle, and Terry L. (Kathy) Jones of Warren, Ohio; a brother, William E. Jones of Ottumwa, Iowa; a sister, Dorothy Fox of New Castle; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters.Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 4-7 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Richard Helsel.Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
