Jack W. Shaw, 78, of New Castle, passed away the evening of March 27, 2014 at Vibra Hospital in Boardman, Ohio.Born December 11, 1935 in New Castle, he was a son of Richard and Edna Hetzel Shaw.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Choco Shaw, whom he married June 8, 1957.He attended Youngstown State University.Jack was employed in the maintenance department of Penn Power Company for 17 years. Prior, he worked at Bessemer Cement and Johnson Bronze.Jack was an active member of First Assembly of God, serving on several church committees and singing in the choir. A member of the official board of First Assembly of God for over 30 years, he served as trustee, elder, vice-president and was president of the men's ministry.He volunteered at Jameson Hospital for 15 years, and served on the union executive committee of AFL-CIO for 10 years.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Susan L. Sayers and her husband Rev. Douglas Sayers of Mechanicsburg, PA; a son, Ronald W. Shaw and wife Rebecca of Cabot, PA; four grandchildren, Aaron Shaw, Rachel Shaw, Jaclyn Sayers, and Chad Sayers.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David R. Shaw.Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. First Assembly of God, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle.A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at the church with his son-in-law, Rev. Douglas E. Sayers, and Rev. Chad Stoecker officiating.A private burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.In lieu of flowers contributions are being accepted for the Memorial Youth Scholarship Fund. This MYSF is to make scholarships available to help students attend youth events.
