Jacob C. Shook, age 84, passed away March 20, 2022 in New Castle, PA. Jake was born July 23, 1937 in New Castle to the late Robert Shook and Tressa (DiThomas) Shook. A 1954 graduate of New Castle High School, he went on to study at The Pennsylvania State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Economics degree in 1958. He then embarked on a long career in business as a Controller and Operating Manager for a variety of companies, with the highlight being President of Earle Industries, a gear manufacturing company in Philadelphia, PA. Jake was a voracious reader of fiction and history, and enjoyed playing golf with his Tuesday and Thursday golf leagues - especially when he could play with his son Stephen. He loved watching sports of almost any type, but his favorite way to watch was in person at Beaver Stadium, rooting on the Nittany Lions, missing only a handful of home games since 1954. He also enjoyed traveling with his partner Judy on cruises, trips to Florida, and to Bowl Games. Perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with friends and family, regaling them with stories and laughing. He is survived by his beloved son, Stephen S. Shook of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; and his loving companion, Judy Bender of New Castle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Tressa and his former spouse, Emily S. Shook. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. There will be no funeral service.
